It’s bound to happen, a customer asks you to do a site survey but they don’t have scaled drawings for you to use in Ekahau or your survey software. What do you do? Sure you could track down drawings from facilities because chances are it’s just your IT contact that doesn’t have them or you could go to the city and see if you can copies of the plans that were submitted when acquiring a building permit but if the site is simple enough there’s a fairly easy way to create your own drawings. The Bosch GLM100C laser distance finder has a Bluetooth chip built-in allowing you to connect to your iPad running the measureOn app from Bosch. Obviously you are not going to do complex sites with this but if you have a fairly simple site this is a quick and easy way to get some plans created.
We put together a quick video showcasing how to use the app and GLM100C to create a simple plan for a hotel room. But first some setup screenshots.
